This book is one of the titles long listed for the Carnegie Award. The Short list is announced on Friday April 20th and I will be very disappointed if this book is not on it!
A group of friends are planning their future; universites, college, gap years and jobs. They have been to a fancy dress party, in the run-up to Christmas, so everyone is in good spirits... until, on their way home, the car they are travelling in hits a patch of ice. There is an accident, the outcome of which affects so many people. The story is told by the main characters and family members, also the car they are travelling in has it's own story to tell! It sounds a little strange but reads extremely well. Although it is not a true story, it could easily be a real life situation and I found it very moving.
A book I just couldn't put down and one I recommend others to read.
